Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, Michigan, is set to close its doors on July 1, 2024, marking the end of an era for the popular shopping destination. As part of the closure, the mall's notable sculptures, including the impressive piece by Fletcher Benton, will find a new home along Hall Road. Benton's sculpture, featuring double-stacked, folded metal circles, originally stood near the JCPenney anchor store and remained untitled and uncredited at the mall. Interestingly, a smaller reproduction of the sculpture, known as "Folded Circle/Double," was created in 1977. These sculptures will be displayed as public art, transforming Hall Road into an outdoor gallery and preserving a piece of the mall's artistic legacy for the community to enjoy.
